The tourist tax of the City of Avignon is not included in the room rate and is paid locally upon arrival. Children and young people under the age of 18 are exempt from it.

Avignon TGV Station is connected to the hotel in about 12 minutes by shuttle or taxi. A rail shuttle also connects the TGV station to Avignon Centre Station in 5 minutes, and the hotel is less than a 5-minute walk from the latter. Upon request, we are happy to arrange your private transfer both on arrival and departure.
Yes, the hotel is in the immediate vicinity of the Avignon Centre train station, less than a 5-minute walk away. It is an ideal stopover for travelers arriving by TER or by shuttle from the TGV station.
Avignon is located in the southeast of France, in the Vaucluse department (84), in the Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur region. Situated on the left bank of the Rhône, the city is about 230 km north of Marseille, 85 km northwest of Aix-en-Provence, 110 km south of Lyon, and 685 km south of Paris. It marks the northern entrance to historic Provence and serves as the gateway to the Luberon, the Alpilles, and the Côtes du Rhône.
Avignon is named so because it was the seat of the Christian papacy from 1309 to 1377, under seven successive popes. Pope Clement V and his successors left Rome to settle in Avignon, transforming the city into the capital of Christianity for nearly seventy years. This period left an exceptional architectural legacy, dominated by the Palace of the Popes, the largest Gothic palace in Europe. Two antipopes extended the papal presence until 1403.
The best times to visit Avignon are April-June and September-October: mild climate, moderate crowds, and vibrant vegetation. July is the cultural peak with the Festival d'Avignon, but the city is very crowded, and temperatures often exceed 35 °C. August remains hot and touristy. Winter (December-February) is mild and not very busy, ideal for a cultural city break. Avignon's spring is particularly recommended for combining a visit to the city and discovering Provence in bloom.
Avignon enjoys a Mediterranean climate: hot and dry summers (June-August, averages 28-32°C, peaks at 38°C) and mild winters (December-February, averages 5-12°C). The city is characterized by the mistral, a north wind that blows on average 120 days per year, cooling the summers but sometimes powerful. Rare precipitation is concentrated in autumn (October-November) in the form of Cévennes storms. Sunshine exceeds 2,700 hours per year, among the highest in France.
Plan at least 2 days to visit Avignon's intra-muros, ideally 3 to 4 days to include excursions in Vaucluse and Provence. One day allows you to explore the Palais des Papes, the Pont d'Avignon, the Place de l'Horloge, and the Rocher des Doms. A second day opens up time for museums (Angladon, Calvet, Collection Lambert, Petit Palais). Beyond that, each additional day allows for an excursion: Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Luberon, Pont du Gard, Les Baux-de-Provence, Arles, Camargue.
